Brain week
We hold a regular cycle of talks about the newest findings in brain research and neuroscience, as part of Brain Awareness Week – a global campaign to increase public awareness of the progress and benefits of brain research.
We organise the biggest science communication events in the Czech Republic as well as numerous public lectures, exhibitions, etc.
We offer a range of marketing and production services to support the CAS’s research institutes’ own outreach activities. We organise the main umbrella events for the Academy as a whole and provide a platform that supports and brings together science communicators from across the Academy.
We run the biggest science festival in the Czech Republic, attracting tens of thousands of visitors every year. The festival features talks, exhibitions, open days, documentary film screenings, workshops, science cafés and other activities across the full range of scientific fields and at locations throughout the country.
We organise the biggest public outreach event in the Czech Republic, in the form of a fair at which the CAS institutes present their activities. The fair is held at the PVA EXPO in Letňany, Prague, and attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year. Alongside the Academy’s institutes, the fair’s exhibitors include science centres, museums and science and technology companies.

The Open Science project focuses on raising interest in research among young people. We organise internships for talented students at CAS workplaces, and demonstrate botany, chemistry and physics experiments to teachers so that they can use them in the classroom. We run specialist talks, excursions, exhibitions and other events for researchers and the general public. We teach researchers and public outreach staff how to communicate with the media. The Science Fair and a series of short educational films known as NEZkreslená věda [UNgarbled science] are also part of the Open Science initiative.
Photogenic Research is an annual competition for amateur or professional photographers who work at the Czech Academy of Sciences. A calendar is produced featuring a selection of the winning photographs, all of which are also presented as part of a touring exhibition and printed in magazines.
