Academia publishing house

We are one of the largest publishing houses in Central Europe focused on academic and popular non-fiction literature. We publish new monographs and other works by Czech academics as well as classic non-fiction works, translations and popular non-fiction books, encyclopaediae and dictionaries. We also run a network of bookshops selling a wide range of academic and non-fiction works.

The Academia bookshops

Our bookshops in Prague, Brno and Ostrava organise events to promote newly published books in our thematic series, of which there are currently more than thirty (including History, The 21^st Century, Galileo, Zoological Field Guides, Memory).

Publication promotion

We promote our newly published works:

• on our website and via social networks
• in window displays at our bookshops
• at prestigious book fairs (Prague, Bratislava, Frankfurt, London, Leipzig and others)
• at events held at our bookshops, including discussions, book readings and signings
• at promotional events organised by the CAS institutes
• as part of the Academia Award and Student Contest
• through collaboration with the media, as a result of which our publications are frequently reviewed in periodicals, on news websites and online literature portals, on Czech Radio and Czech Television.
